Summary Information for Field Activity 1977-031-FA

Area of Operations: Long Island Platform, Mid-Atlantic Bight, Baltimore Canyon Trough, South Atlantic continental shelf and margin, Carolina Platform, United States, North America, North Atlantic

Dates: August 19, 1977 to October 29, 1977

Chief scientist: Bill Dillon

Objectives: To assess resource potential of offshore Atlantic sedimentary basins by common depth point (CDP) profiling in 4 regional grids over the Long Island Platform, Baltimore Canyon Trough, Carolina Platform, and Continental Shelf and Margin southeast of Cape Hatteras. Data collected and processed under contract by Teledyne Exploration Company.

Type of Activity: Seismic profiling; Multichannel (CDP) profiling

Information to be derived: Morphology;

Summary: 10 CDP multichannel seismic lines: #14-15 Baltimore Canyon Trough; #16, Long Island Platform; #17, Carolina Platform; and #TD1-TD6, Continental shelf margin south of Cape Hatteras.
