Summary Information for Field Activity 1978-001-FA

Area of Operations: Middle Atlantic Bight, Georges Bank, New Jersey Continental Shelf, United States, North America, North Atlantic

Dates: January 19, 1978 to January 26, 1978

Objectives: Retrieve 2 tripods and 1 current mooring; deploy 4 tripods and 3 current moorings; and conduct XBT and CTD observations as weather and time permit.

Summary: Moorings recovered: 3 (#135, 136 and 137 all deployed FA 77032 ADVANCE II Sep. 7-23, 1977). Tripods deployed: 4 (#138, 139, 140, and 141 all recovered FA 78010 OCEANUS 45 May 10-18, 1978). Current Moorings deployed: 3 (#144, 145, and 146 all recovered FA 78010 OCEANUS 45 May 10-18, 1978). Surface salinity samples: 130; XBT: 96; CTD: 31; Surface grabs samples: 6 (USGS stations 4700-4705).
