Summary: LEG 1, 2/15: Depart Woods Hole to check location of Tripod #291. Ttripod not in place; returned to dock for additional equipment. LEG 2, 2/15: Depart Woods Hole for tripod site. Made 4 ranges to establish location of tripod; left Norwegian float in vicinity; returned to WHOI dock. LEG 3, 2/19: Depart Woods Hole for tripod site. Picked up Norwegian float and made 3 additional ranges; tripod snagged on 3rd pass with grappling hook (tripod had been dragged about 100 m by ice); returned Tripod #291 to bottom at same location. Departed to site of Tripod #292; tripod was upright and surface float sighted. Returned to WHOI dock.
