Summary Information for Field Activity 1998-044-FA

Area of Operations: Massachusetts Bay, Massachusetts, United States, North America, North Atlantic

Dates: September 30, 1998 to October 01, 1998

Chief scientist: Mike Bothner

Objectives: Exchange moorings off Boston and Scituate. Collect sediment cores and sediment-oxygen profiles near the future sewage outfall location. Collect water samples at the surface and bottom at the mooring site.

Type of Activity: Sampling; Mooring work; Photography;

Information to be derived: Time series data; Samples and chemical analysis; Suspended sediment concentrations;

Summary: All moored instruments were turned around without incident. High quality cores were collected at each station. Corer performed as designed. Moorings recovered: 4 (#529, 530, 531 and 532, all deployed FA 98028 MARCUS HANNA Jun. 17-19, 1998). Moorings deployed: 4 (#540, 541, 542 and 543, all recovered FA 99007 MARCUS HANNA Feb. 10-11, 1999).
