Data Type(s): Environmental Data: Dissolved Oxygen, Imagery: Photo, Imagery: Video, Location-Elevation: Navigation, Sampling: Geology, Time Series: Mooring (physical oceanography)

Scientific Purpose/Goals: Exchange moorings off Boston and Scituate. Collect sediment cores and sediment-oxygen profiles near the future sewage outfall location. Collect water samples at the surface and bottom at the mooring site.

Vehicle(s):

Start Port/Location: Coast Guard Base, Boston, MA

End Port/Location: Coast Guard Base, Boston, MA

Start Date: 1998-09-30

End Date: 1998-10-01

Equipment Used: Oxygen profiling system from Sayles, DGPS, Slow corer, Osprey camera system, Camera- deep sea, Bottom platform

Information to be Derived: Time series data; Samples and chemical analysis; Suspended sediment concentrations;

Summary of Activity and Data Gathered: All moored instruments were turned around without incident. High quality cores were collected at each station. Corer performed as designed. Moorings recovered: 4 (#529, 530, 531 and 532, all deployed FA 98028 MARCUS HANNA Jun. 17-19, 1998). Moorings deployed: 4 (#540, 541, 542 and 543, all recovered FA 99007 MARCUS HANNA Feb. 10-11, 1999).
