Scientific Purpose/Goals: Seismic and sidescan mapping of deltas along the edge of the Las Vegas Bay part of Lake Mead to serve as a base map for coring and other environmental monitoring studies.

Vehicle(s):

Start Port/Location: Las Vegas Bay Marina

End Port/Location: Las Vegas Bay Marina

Start Date: 2000-05-30

End Date: 2000-06-09

Summary of Activity and Data Gathered:

Staff: VeeAnn Cross, Kenneth F. Parolski

Affiliate Staff:
Mark Rudin
UNLV
co-chief scientist

Notes: A second component of the field work will include coring that will be completed during the week of July 11-18. This part of the work will require a P-code navigation system with a navigation laptop with MapInfo on it. The rest of the coring gear will come from elsewhere. Original Center People field contained: Ken Parolski - sidescan/seismic tech., VeeAnn Cross - data processor.
Project = Lake Mead Geophysical Survey, Lake Mead Geophysical Survey
Information from Foghorn: Knudsen chirp sub-bottom profiler with digital data logger for chirp system, EdgeTech 100-kHz sidescan system, ISIS sidescan logging, P-CODE GPS with HYPACK navigation package, Data processing computer, CD-ROM mastering system for data archival;
