Other ID: IB R-86-00-CD

Status: Completed

Organization(s): USGS, Woods Hole Coastal and Marine Science Center

Funding Program(s):

Principal Investigator(s): Lawrence Poppe

Affiliate Investigator(s): John Masterson, WRD

Information Specialist(s): David Foster

Data Type(s): Location-Elevation: Navigation, Seismics: Boomer, Seismics: Air Gun / Water Gun, Seismics: Bubble Gun, Seismics: Sparker, Seismics: Sub Bottom Profiler

Scientific Purpose/Goals: We will be collecting high-resolution, Chirp and boomer sub-bottom data to map the Quaternary stratigraphy beneath Wellfleet Harbor and Cape Cod Bay along the western coast of Wellfleet and Truro. The stratigraphic data will be used in models of the glacial aquifer, and for locating wells on land.

Vehicle(s):

Start Port/Location: Red Brook Harbor, Bourne, MA

End Port/Location: Sesuit Harbor, East Dennis, MA

Start Date: 2000-11-13

End Date: 2000-12-19

Equipment Used: Single channel hydrophone, DGPS, Boomer, Elics Data Acquisition System, Knudsen CHIRP Sub-bottom Profiler, HYPACK

Information to be Derived:

Summary of Activity and Data Gathered: Operations were restricted due to high winds and tide windows.
