Dates: May 22, 2007 to May 26, 2007

Chief scientist: Dave Twichell

   USGS St. Petersburg

Objectives: Vibracoring in Apalachicola Bay to ground truth seismic data and reconstruct the late Holocene history of the bay.

Type of Activity: Sampling; Vibracoring - Rossfelder vibracorer;Vibracoring - Rossfelder vibracorer

Information to be derived: Grain size analysis;Visual core descriptions and age dates;

Summary: Twenty-four vibracores were collected from 23 different stations within Apalachicola Bay. Water depths for the stations ranged from 2.2 to 4.0 m. The core barrels were 6.1 m (20 ft) in length, and the recovered cores ranged from 2.6 m to 5.4 m.
