Summary Information for Field Activity 2008-023-FA

Area of Operations: Cape Ann region, Massachusetts, Gulf of Maine, United States, North Atlantic

Dates: August 25, 2008 to August 29, 2008

Objectives: Collect cores and sub-bottom profiles from the Merrimack paleodelta and Jeffreys Ledge to reconstruct depositional environments and determine sea-level history.

Type of Activity: Sampling; Seismic profiling;

Information to be derived: Sea floor map;

Summary: Vibracores were attempted at 22 stations. Core samples were recovered at 21 stations and range in length up to 3.48 m. Seismic reflection profiles were collected along 319 km of tracklines.
