Data Type(s): Environmental Data: CTD, Environmental Data: Fluorescence, Location-Elevation: Navigation, Sampling: Chemistry
Scientific Purpose/Goals: The data were collected in order to understand the controls on iron and other nutrient concentrations in Gulf of Alaska surface waters to better understand controls on biological productivity in the region.
Vehicle(s):
Start Port/Location: Cordova, AK
End Port/Location: Cordova, AK
Start Date: 2010-04-06
End Date: 2010-07-30
Equipment Used: GPS (wh), Water sampler, SBE 9 CTD, Undulating towed instrument array (w/ ictd, fluorometer, etc.
Information to be Derived: Concentrations of total dissolvable Fe (TDFe), dissolved Fe (dFe), nitrate, and salinity; temperature, fluorescence, and sea surface height deviation data as background.
Summary of Activity and Data Gathered: Three cruises were carried out in April, May and July 2010 from the Copper River (AK) mouth to beyond the shelf break, ~150 km from shore. Data include concentrations of total dissolvable Fe (TDFe), dissolved Fe (dFe), nitrate, and salinity, temperature and fluorescence data (CTD) as background. This also includes sea surface height deviation data for a two month interval when a Yakutat eddy passed by the sampling site.
