Summary Information for Field Activity 2011-056-FA

Area of Operations: Upper Mystic Lake, Massachusetts

Dates: November 29, 2011 to November 29, 2011

Chief scientist: Carolyn Ruppel

   Benjamin Scandella--MIT

Objectives: map gas in sediments and water column in vicinity of lake-bottom sonar deployment

Type of Activity: Seismic profiling;Upper Mystic Lake, Arlington/Winchester, Massachusetts

Information to be derived: Time series data;Sea floor map;time series of changes in gas charge between surveys

Summary: Re-occupied closely spaced Chirp lines collected earlier to determine if any changes in gas charging of sediments or gas emissions from sediments. Crossed sonar deployed on bottom lander several times and imaged it in the Chirp data. Sought to correlate seeps detected by the sonar lander with seeps inferred from fishfinder/Chirp records.
