Area of Operations: Upper Mystic Lake, Boston, Massachusetts, United States, North America
Dates: June 04, 2012 to June 07, 2012
Chief scientist: John Pohlman
Ruben Juanes and Ben Scandella, MIT
Objectives: Collect methane, CO2 and meteorological data from Upper Mystic Lake to calculate air-sea methane and CO2 fluxes. Data will be acquired with the greenhouse gas flux analyzer aboard the Carolina Skiff.
Type of Activity: Sampling;Upper Mystic Lake, Arlington, MA, United States
Information to be derived: Samples and chemical analysis;Greenhouse Gas Data
Summary: CRDS data on surface water methane and carbon dioxide concentrations were collected along 10+ kilometers of survey lines in the Upper Mystic Lake. Additionally, surface air methane and CO2 were measured at the end of each survey line and along a continuous transect that crossed the lake at several points and within the fore boat basin. Humminbird sonar data collected along the survey lines. Discrete samples for methane concentration analysis were collected at several locations and within the fore boat basin.
