Introduction to CSLICE

cslice is a MATLAB tool
designed for easy visual interrogation of ECOM NetCDF files. The name cslice sort
of stands for cross-slice. Not a great name, but it kind of
stuck. Plus, there were already matlab routines called islice, jslice,
kslice, etc., from the ECOMviz matlab package, that allowed the user
to cut along the i, j, and k directions. However, cslice is somewhat
more general, in that the user has interactive control over how they want the
data set to be sliced, including horizontal and any orientation of vertical
cslice builds upon ECOM interrogation routines written by Rich
Signell, and allows the user to
- vertically slice the data.
- change the resolution of the vertical slice.
- save a figure window to a MATLAB *.m file.
- save the window data to a MATLAB *.mat file.
- print the window to postscript or encapsulated postscript.
- change the current variable to another such variable in the data set.
- change or edit the colormap.
- change the shading.
- overlay the horizontal slice with the velocity field.
- zoom in on a particular area of interest.
On 32-bit SGI machines, cslice will not work with SCRUM files. There
is a bug in mexcdf causing this.

Renamed linterp function to avoid name clash with
March 12, 1998. There were problems when users deleted any
windows without using the "hide" or "exit" callbacks
- April 21, 1997. Rewritten to take advantage of MATLAB 5.0.
- November 4. Changed print option to handle Postscript
Level 2. Printing to a file now results in a file
dialog box popup.
- June 28. Double-clicking on the same mouse point was
confusing it. If the second mouse-point is the same as
the first, it is now ignored.
- June 26. Arrgghhh! When previous problem "fixed", made a
mistake with RCS that caused further crashes. Fixed.
- June 25. Problem noted that if data min and max are both
zero, assigning a color axis will fail. Fixed.
- June 12, 1996. Initial Release!
