  Lake-Floor Chemistry

Water quality of Lake Mead is a major concern to water managers. Information on the amounts, distribution, and ultimate fate of pollutants in lake-floor sediment will help with water management and policy decisions.

Chemical analyses will be conducted on sediment samples, collected from Lake Mead, to assess the presence and distribution of pollutants in the lake-bed sediment. Sediment samples will be collected during spring 2002. Analyses will be conducted by scientists at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in the departments of chemistry and health physics.
