Marine Geophysical Data Study/NOAA

We will conduct an inventory of applicable geophysical data related to sedimentary rock thickness identified by NOAA/USGS as the most likely to support a U.S. claim for extension of its juridical continental shelf in accordance with the U.N. Law of the Sea Convention.

The study is to examine, where practicable, all pertinent geophysical data in the continental margin of the U.S. and to determine the suitability of that data and the need for additional data, for the purpose of supporting a claim under Articale 76 of United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

We will conduct an inventory of applicable geophysical data related to sedimentary rock thickness identified by NOAA/USGS as the most likely to support a U.S. claim for extension of its juridical continental shelf in accordance with the U.N. Law of the Sea Convention.

Assistance in needed in identifying the necessary existing supporting geophysical data and data gaps. The U.S.G.S. has the requisite expertise in marine geology and a vast library/database applicable to the Congressionally mandated study.
