Frequently-anticipated questions:

What does this data set describe?

Title:
MA State Outline (25k coast) (Polygons) - Geographic Coordinate System
Abstract:
The outline of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. MassGIS digitized 1:25,000 line work from U.S. Geological Survey mylar map sheets for land boundaries; a 1:25,000 coastline was extracted from the MassGIS Hydrography (1:25,000) layer. OUTLINE25K_POLY contains the polygon feature class.

The dataset was acquired from MassGIS with these existing attributes. Since the projection of the dataset from the MassGIS was Massachusetts State Plane (NAD83), Mainland Zone (Fipszone 2001), it is assumed that the Shape_area and Shape_len values are in meters.
