Geologic Mapping of the Massachusetts Sea Floor

shim

This project is a cooperative effort that was initiated in 2003 by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and the Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management (CZM).  The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration – National Ocean Service (NOAA-NOS) is also an important partner and contributes hydrographic data that are integrated into the maps and interpretations. Other agencies and Universities that have contributed expertise and data include the Canadian Hydrographic Survey, the University of New Hampshire and the University of New Brunswick.

To Learn more about how the Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management is utilizing data from this cooperative visit their website at: http://www.mass.gov/eea/agencies/czm/program-areas/seafloor-and-habitat-mapping/sediment-mapping/

To obtain NOAA Hydrographic Survey data in Massachusetts waters visit the interactive map interface to NOS data and products at: http://maps.ngdc.noaa.gov/viewers/bathymetry/?layers=nos_hydro&minx=-200&maxx=-50&miny=10&maxy=70
