Peace and Science in the Middle East


     These projects were funded by USAID Middle Eastern Regional Cooperation Program grant M21-012 and TA-MOU-96-C15-165. Matching funds and encouragement were provided by the U.S. Geological Survey, Al-Balqa' University (Jordan), the Geophysical Institute of Israel (Israel), the Natural Reosurces Authority (Jordan), and Al-Najah University (Palestine).

For the magnetic survey:

      We thank the pilots and technicians of the Royal Jordanian Air Force, the liaison officers of the Jordanian and Israeli armies, and Malcolm Argyle and Tim Cartwright, Sander Geophysics Limited, for their support, and Gabi Haim (GII) for logistical support. Brian Andrews (USGS) and Matt Arsenault (USGS) helped with map preparation.
