This is a Vector data set. It contains the following vector data types (SDTS terminology):
Horizontal positions are specified in geographic coordinates, that is, latitude and longitude. Latitudes are given to the nearest 0.000000. Longitudes are given to the nearest 0.000000. Latitude and longitude values are specified in Decimal degrees.
The horizontal datum used is North American Datum of 1983.
The ellipsoid used is Geodetic Reference System 80.
The semi-major axis of the ellipsoid used is 6378137.000000.
The flattening of the ellipsoid used is 1/298.257222.
Sequential unique whole numbers that are automatically generated.
Coordinates defining the features.

This GIS shapefile shows the tracklines along which single-channel seismic-reflection profiles were collected in 1997 aboard the R/V GYRE. The survey focused on the Bryant Canyon turbidite pathway, which crosses the Louisiana continental slope. 562 km of single-channel seismic data were collected during this cruise.

Navigation data were collected using both Differential GPS and P-CODE GPS receivers. The GI Airgun was towed 10 m aft of the ship. The two-channel streamer was towed approximately 100 m aft of the ship, and each channel was 25 m long.
The airgun was towed at a depth of approximately 1 meter. The streamer was towed at a depth of approximately 5 m. There was no correction to a datum such as mean sea level.
No additional checks for topological consistency were performed on this data set. No duplicate features are present.
