Acknowledgments

The Oceanographic time-series measurements database and associated documentation represents the work of many individuals over more than 30 years. Numerous USGS and other personnel have participated in instrument preparation and development; data acquisition, processing, analysis, and archival; and distribution of these data sets since 1975. We gratefully acknowledge their outstanding commitment to obtaining and archiving the highest quality oceanographic measurements.

The collection, processing, and archive of the observations in the USGS Time-Series Data Base has benefitted from extensive long-term collaboration in science, instrument development, data processing, software development, and field operations with numerous investigators at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.

This work could not be done without going to sea, so we thank the captains and crews of the many vessels employed by the research programs for their outstanding logistical support. Superlative ship handling enables safe, efficient on-deck operations.

Dann Blackwood took many of the photographs of instruments and field operations included in this report. Donna Newman and Gregory Miller of the WHSC completed the HTML layout for this Open-File Report and made it compliant with USGS accessibility standards. Thanks also to our reviewers; Michael Bothner, Marlene Noble, and Dale Simmons, all of USGS, for their insightful comments.
